Pre-Procedure Instructions

Please read the following instructions carefully before your procedure. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call our office.


Medications That MUST Be Stopped 7 Days Prior to Your Procedure

There are several medications that must NOT be taken prior to your procedure.

Aspirin, Anacin, Aggrenox, Bufferin, Ticlid, Ginseng, Coumadin (Warfarin), Ecotrin, Excedrine, Ginko Balboa, Garlic, Indocin, Percodan, Plavix (clopidogrel), Brilinta (ticagrelor), Effient (prasugrel), Salicilate, BC Powder, Semaglutide or Tirzepatide (e.g. Ozempic & Mounjaro)

Medications That MUST Be Stopped 3 Days Prior to Your Procedure

Advil, Aleve, Lodine, Meloxicam, Motrin (Ibuprofen), Mobic, Vicoprofen, Naprosyn (Naproxen), Trilisate, Celebrex, Voltaren (Arthrotec), Daypro, Xarelto (rivaroxaban), Eliquis (apixaban)

Medications That MUST Be Stopped 12 Hours Prior to Your Procedure

Heparin, Lovenox


Insulin & Diabetes Medications

If you are taking insulin, take only ¼ of your normal dose on the day of your procedure, as you will not be eating beforehand. If you are on oral diabetes medication, stop it the day of your procedure.

Blood Pressure & Heart Medications

If you regularly take blood pressure and/or heart medications in the morning, it is recommended that you take these medications before your procedure with a sip of water.


Things to Remember for Your Procedure

  • DO NOT eat or drink anything for 8 hours prior to your procedure if you are having anesthesia (IV sedation).
  • Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and co-payment.
  • Please do not chew gum or eat hard candies.
  • You MUST bring someone to drive you home if you are having anesthesia (IV sedation).
  • Plan to be here approximately 2 to 2½ hours from arrival to departure.
