Dr. Pravat understands each person is unique and requires a personalized approach to managing their pain and improving their functioning and activity. He is experienced in treating a broad spectrum of painful conditions, including arthritic/musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, acute and chronic pain.
He specializes in cervical/thoracic/lumbar spine issues, treating pain with fluoroscopically guided procedures including epidural steroid injections (interlaminar/transforaminal/catheter-guided), facet injections and rhizotomy/radiofrequency ablation, sacroiliac joint injections, and spinal cord stimulation/neuromodulation. Dr. Pravat is also proficient in peripheral joint injections, tendon sheath injections, trigger point injections, and peripheral nerve blocks, often with ultrasound guidance. Dr. Pravat also realizes that many conditions cannot be treated successfully with interventional procedures alone, and medication management is often an important component of the overall treatment plan, when appropriate.
Dr. Pravat emphasizes the benefits of aerobic exercise, maintaining flexibility, mobility, and alignment, as well as strength, in order to stay as active as possible. He strives to maximize physical, emotional, and psychological well being, to reduce symptoms and improve overall health.
Dr. Pravat also enjoys doing inpatient rehabilitation, in many different settings, often working with very complex patients with multiple medical conditions, in order to maximize independence and quality of life. In addition, Dr. Pravat helps patients with mobility and wheelchair evaluations, and often works with amputees for prosthetic evaluations and their associated rehab needs.
